Martin Littler - Head of Australian Equities - Core

Martin is Head of Australian Equities – Core for Colonial First State Global Asset Management. Martin joined Commonwealth Investment Management (which merged with Colonial First State Global Asset Management in March 2002) in 1996 as Head of Equities. In this role he is responsible for all style-neutral Australian equity portfolios.

Martin has broad experience with other fund managers, including the State Authorities Superannuation Board of New South Wales and Mercury Asset Management. Martin has also had extensive experience as an engineer within the energy sector (coal, oil and gas).

 

Australian Equities
Marcus Fanning – Head of Australian Equities, Growth

Marcus joined Colonial First State Global Asset Management in September 2007.

In his role as Head of Australian Equities, Growth, Marcus is responsible for the management of more than $10 billion in Australian Equities including key leading retail Funds, Imputation Fund and Australian Share Fund.

Marcus was most recently Managing Director, Head of Equity Capital Markets with Morgan Stanley, Sydney where he led the successful execution of a range of corporate actions, including Initial Public Offerings, rights issues, and the purchase and disposal of strategic holdings for a number of Australian and international companies.

Marcus has over 15 years experience in the Australian equities markets, including most recently, as the Head of Australian Equities positions at BT Australia and AMP Henderson Asset Management. He has also held senior portfolio manager positions, with McIntosh Asset Management and PP Management.

Marcus holds a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting).

 

Fixed Interest and Credit

Warren is Co-head of Global Fixed Interest and Credit, jointly responsible for the overall management of the Global Fixed Interest and Credit team and process. The 30 member team, which has people located in both Sydney and Hong Kong, manages around $25 billion for Australian and international investors. It also provides credit support for a total of $60 billion in cash, fixed interest and credit.

Warren’s principal focus is the oversight of strategic processes, in particular duration management and sector allocation in both domestic and global markets. He is the portfolio manager for the Colonial First State Diversified Fixed Interest fund. He joined the business in February 1997 as Head of Fixed Interest for First State Fund Managers.

 

Fixed Interest and Credit

Tony is co-head of Global Fixed Interest and Credit, jointly responsible for the overall management of the Fixed Interest and Credit team and process. The 30 member team, which has people located in both Sydney and Hong Kong, manages around $25 billion for Australian and international investors. It provides credit support for a total of $60 billion in cash, fixed interest and credit.

Tony’s principal focus is the oversight of the Portfolio construction process, as it applies to all the fixed interest portfolios and mandates. He has direct charge of the credit focused portfolios, where the management of credit risk, as opposed to duration risk, is the main source of return. He has also played a significant role in the support and development of Colonial First State Global Asset Management’s Asian fixed interest and credit business. As part of his new role, Mr Adams will continue to directly manage the Global Credit Income Fund.

Angus  Tulloch - Joint Managing Partner, Asia Pacific/Global Emerging Markets Equities Team

Angus is Joint Managing Partner of the Asia Pacific/Global Emerging Markets equities team at First State Investments. Angus’ primary focus is stock selection and portfolio construction.

Angus has more than 30 years experience in corporate planning and finance roles, joining Stewart Ivory (subsequently bought by First State Investments) in Scotland in 1988. It was here that he established an Asia Pacific/Global Emerging Markets capability, drawing on his three years' experience in Hong Kong as a regional analyst.

Habib Subjally - Head of Global Equities

Habib joined First State Investments in April 2006 to head the global equities business. He has responsibility of overseeing all Colonial First State Global Asset Management's global portfolios.

Habib has 20 years industry experience and previously held roles as Head of Small and Mid Cap Research at Credit Suisse Europe and Head of Global Equities at INVESCO Asset Management.

Peter joined Colonial First State Global Asset Management in January 2007 as Head of Global Infrastructure Securities.  Peter has more than 10 years’ experience in the infrastructure and utilities sectors.  Prior to joining Colonial First State Global Asset Management, Peter was a Director and Head of Infrastructure and Utilities research at Credit Suisse Equities (Australia).  He received top rankings in a number of industry surveys and was involved in a number of company defining corporate transactions. 

As a Vice President at Credit Suisse, Peter also gained experience in the Telecoms and Energy sectors.  Prior to Credit Suisse, Peter was an analyst at Macquarie Equities when the infrastructure sector was in its infancy. Peter holds a Bachelor of Economics (Finance) from Macquarie University.

 

Global Resources
Joanne Warner - Head of Global Resources

Dr Joanne Warner joined Colonial First State Global Asset Management in August 1997 as the back-up Portfolio Manager for the flagship Wholesale Global Resources Fund. She became the prime Portfolio Manager for the internal Statutory Funds in July 2003 and then for a Global Resources mandate in January 2006. Between 2006 and mid-2010 she was the prime Portfolio Manager for all the publicly offered Global Resources long funds in Australia, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan, before becoming the Head of Global Resources in June 2010.

Joanne has more than 13 years experience as a specialist Global Resources portfolio manager and analyst. She moved into the financial sector with the London based global mining specialist broker, T Hoare & Co, where she spent two years as an analyst before moving to Equitilink as a Fund Manager in the resources sector.

Joanne holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Applied Chemistry) from the University of Technology, Sydney, where she won the University Medal. She was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford where she was awarded a PhD in Solid State Chemistry. In November 2007, she won the Outstanding Achievement Award for Mining Funds Management at the annual Mines and Money Conference, sponsored by the Mining Journal in London.

 

Infrastructure
Christine O'Reilly - Co-head of CFSGAM Infrastructure

Christine is co-head of Infrastructure. Christine shares responsibility for the global infrastructure funds and infrastructure mandates, with a primary focus on direct investment in and management of major infrastructure projects including airports, toll roads, water distribution, and pipelines.Christine was appointed in July 2007. Christine is a director of Anglian Water Group and Electricity North West.

Prior to joining the team, Christine was Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Gasnet Australia Group, a top 200 ASX listed company which owned, maintained and developed gas transmission pipelines and related infrastructure. She also held a number of industry appointments including vice president of the Australian Pipeline Industry Association, Director, Vencorp (Victorian Energy Corporation), Director, Gas Industry Education Trust, and Director, Victrack.

Christine has more than 20 years of infrastructure and financial experience including an early involvement in the reform and establishment of the regulatory framework for the Australian gas industry, eight years with the investment bank, Centauras Corporate Advisory Services, and audit experience with Price Waterhouse where she qualified as a chartered accountant. She is currently a Director of Care Australia. Christine has a Bachelor of Business from the West Australian Institute of Technology.

     

Perry Clausen - Co-head of CFSGM Infrastructure

Perry is co-head of Infrastructure. Perry shares responsibility for the global infrastructure funds and infrastructure mandates, with a primary focus on direct investment in and management of major infrastructure projects including airports, toll roads, water distribution, and pipelines. Perry was appointed in March 2007. Perry is an alternate director of Brisbane Airport.

Prior to joining the team, Perry was Director of Infrastructure Investments for a A$12 billion industry superannuation fund and has more than 20 years’ investment and financial experience. Perry’s experience includes a six-year term as a Director and Investment Committee member of the trustee of the A$2 billion National Australia Bank Group Superannuation Fund, nine years with the National Australia Bank, and audit experience with KPMG in Canada where he qualified as a chartered accountant.

In addition to his direct experience in executing transactions and overseeing the management of unlisted investments, Perry’s superannuation background and experience is being applied to deliver the client-orientated focus of our business platform.

 

Infrastructure
Danny Latham - Head of Infrastructure, Europe

 

Danny Latham  

Danny was appointed Head of Infrastructure Investment, Europe in November 2007 and reports into Perry Clausen and Christine O'Reilly. Danny has overall responsibility for the European infrastructure business, with a primary focus on origination, execution and management of infrastructure assets, portfolio management and client interface for the European Infrastructure fund and client mandates.

In his prior role he was a Director of RREEF Infrastructure based in London, where he was responsible for fundraising, deal origination and execution and sat on the investment committee for the European business.

Danny has over 13 years of direct infrastructure investment experience as a fiduciary including 3 years at RREEF Infrastructure, a Deutsche Bank Subsidiary, and was a founding member of the AMP Group’s infrastructure team in 1994.

 

Darren Steinberg - Head of Property

Darren is the Head of Property for Colonial First State Global Asset Management.

This includes listed property, unlisted property and our asset management and development functions. These businesses have responsibility for approximately A$18 billion in funds and assets under management. Darren oversees the performance and strategic direction for all vehicles managed by these businesses.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the property industry, Darren now leads one of Australia’s largest fully integrated property businesses. Darren’s extensive experience in the property industry includes senior roles with Stockland, Westfield, Lend Lease, Jones Lang Wooton and Baillieu Knight Frank.

Darren has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia. He is a Director of the Property Council of Australia, a Director of the Shopping Centre Council of Australia, a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

Global Property Securities
Andrew Nicholas- Head of Global Property Securities

Andrew is the Head of Global Property Securities with overall responsibility for the strategic direction and performance of Colonial First State Global Asset Management’s Australian and global property securities funds.

Andrew is responsible for the operation management  of the Global Property Securities team. The team manages a number of domestic, Asian and global property securities portfolios for a number of funds. Andrew has more than 20 years experience and has been actively involved in setting up and marketing a range of new funds in the Australian and international markets.

Andrew joined Colonial First State Global Asset Management in April 2006. Prior to joining CFS, Andrew was an Executive Director with UBS Global Asset Management managing the Australian Property Securities and Global Property Securities funds. He was previously with Deutsche Bank for 10 years in a number of roles including Head of Australian Equity Research and was also on the Deutsche Bank Australian Equities Executive Committee and Deputy Head of Asian Equity Research. In 2001, Andrew commenced research coverage initiation on the Japanese REIT sector. For many years Andrew was a top rated Developers and Contractors analyst in Australia.  His experience includes coverage of a number of property and asset sectors namely; REITs, Insurance, Tourism, Infrastructure and Utilities, Transport and Small capitalisation stocks. In this role, he assisted numerous capital raisings in the REIT and broader industrial market. He has also 4 years direct property industry experience having worked for Delfin (part of Lendlease) and Lensworth (part of Stockland Property Trust). Prior experience consisted of policy and property research for the Victorian State Treasury and a number of years in the agricultural industry managing large scale corporate agricultural properties.

 

Short term Investments
Tony Togher - Head of Short term Investments

Tony, who began his career in financial markets in 1983, is our Head of Short-term Investments. He assumed responsibility for the management, development and implementation of strategies for all cash and cash enhanced mandates with Commonwealth Investment Management in 1988. Tony joined Colonial First State in March 2002 as a result of the merger with Commonwealth Investment Management.

In 2003, Tony was appointed as a Trustee Director of the Commonwealth Bank Officers Superannuation Corporation which currently controls assets in excess of A$6.5 billion of superannuation funds with more than 50,000 members.
