The Capital Strategy and Risk Management (CSRM) team is a centralised front office treasury operation forming part of the CFSGAM Finance division. CSRM is responsible for the management of funding, interest rate and foreign exchange exposures for CFSGAM Property.
CSRM's primary purpose is to:
- develop and implement debt and capital management strategies to optimise the performance of individual funds
- source and procure the most appropriate debt and derivative instruments for the funds, ensuring they meet treasury policy risk parameters (this will include the execution of complex financing arrangements and dealing in over-the-counter derivative instruments)
advise CFSGAM colleagues on treasury-related matters pertaining to acquisitions, divestments and other significant transactions or initiatives
manage and monitor fund level exposures to foreign exchange, interest rate and funding risks, and
continually enhance reporting and risk management models.
CSRM currently manages around $9 billion in derivatives and $8 billion in debt across CFSGAM's stable of property and infrastructure funds. The derivatives portfolio consists of a variety of vanilla and structured over-the-counter interest rate and foreign exchange swaps. Debt funding sources include bank facilities, domestic bond programs, convertible notes, asset-backed securities and US private placements.
