As part of an ongoing commitment to integrating environmental, social and governance issues into its investment and asset management processes, Colonial First State Global Asset Management has a Responsible Investment team, led by Amanda McCluskey, which has a long-term vision to ensure that the business is regarded as a leader in responsible investment and sustainability.

Amanda McCluskey
Head of Sustainability and Responsible Investment

In the role of Head of Sustainability and Responsible Investment, Amanda focuses on developing and delivering Colonial First State Global Asset Management’s strategy on sustainability and climate change issues. Amanda works closely with the investment teams across all asset classes to build in a consideration of ESG issues and identify new investment opportunities. Amanda also engages the investment community more broadly to increase the awareness of the risks and opportunities for long term investors.   

Amanda is the founding Deputy Chair of the Investor Group on Climate Change, is on the Board’s of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative. 

In recognition of her leadership on climate change issues in particular, Amanda was named one of Sydney’s most influential people in 2009.  

Previously Amanda was at Portfolio Partners as Investment Manager Sustainability and has also worked at BT Financial Group as Manager Investment Governance. Amanda has worked extensively in the development and implementation of sustainability and governance strategies, frameworks and reporting, and the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).  

Amanda holds a Bachelor of Economics with Honours in International Relations and was one of the first Australians to participate in the Al Gore Climate Leadership Program. In 2010 Amanda was named an AFR BOSS Young Executive of the Year.

Rowan Griffin
Head of Sustainability for Property and Alternative Investments

Rowan was appointed to this role in July 2008. In this role, Rowan is responsible for setting the strategy and direction for the property operations Sustainability Agenda, which is strongly aligned to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investment. He is also responsible for ensuring the application and implementation of this strategy onto all properties under management. The direction setting of Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) rating standards for developments, refurbishments, fit-outs and existing buildings, as well as performance ratings for our properties, are under his management.

Rowan is a member of the Property Council of Australia's National Sustainability Roundtable, a director of The Property Industry Foundation and a board member of the GBCA.

Nick Edgerton
Manager ESG Research and Engagement

In the role of Manager ESG Research and Engagement, Nick works closely with the investment teams across all asset classes to build in a consideration of ESG issues and identify new investment opportunities. Nick also engages the investment community more broadly to increase the awareness of the risks and opportunities for long term investors.  

Previously Nick was at AMP as an ESG analyst for Australia’s largest Sustainable Fund, covering half of the ASX listed sectors and more than 200 stocks. Prior to AMP Nick was a Senior Research Consultant at the Institute for Sustainable Futures.

Nick has a Bachelor of Economics, Macquarie University, and a Master of Science with Distinction (ecological economics), The University of Edinburgh.

Sustainability Manager - Property

Amy joined the Colonial First State Global Asset Management Responsible Investment and Sustainability Team in August 2008 as Sustainability Manager - Property. Amy's primary focus in the property management business is the implementation of the sustainability policy. In collaboration with the fund teams, Amy's role is to shape and lead the benchmarking and operations of sustainability initiatives.

Prior to joining Colonial First State Global Asset Management, Amy was the National Sustainability Manager for Jones Lang LaSalle Asset Management Services where she was responsible for the development and delivery of the sustainability strategy and associated initiatives for The GPT Group Office Portfolio and APPF. Amy's previous roles also include working for the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), The QLD Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Holcim.
                        

Alisha Carle Alisha Carle
Team Assistant, Sustainability and Responsible Investment

Alisha joined the Sustainability and Responsible Investment team at Colonial First State Global Asset Management in September 2008. Alisha coordinates all the teams activities, communications and client correspondence and is the secretariat to the responsible investment implementation committees across the business. Alisha is also responsible for the Responsible Investment and Sustainability research library and co-ordinates new sustainability research produced.

Prior to joining Colonial First State Global Asset Management, Alisha was with the ASX Listed Biotech Company Polartechnics Ltd.
